By accessing and using the University Bound English (UBE) website, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions, which, together with our Privacy Policy, govern UBE’s relationship with you concerning our services. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you are advised to discontinue your use of our services immediately.

Definitions:

  • UBE: Refers to the owner and operator of the websites managed by UBE.
  • You, Customer, Your: Refers to the user or viewer of our website.
  • Service(s): Refers to both free and paid services offered on any websites managed by UBE.

UBE reserves the right to update and modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any new features that enhance the current service, including the release of new resources, will be subject to these Terms and Conditions. Continued use of the service after any such changes constitutes your consent to these changes. You acknowledge that UBE is not responsible for content posted on the Service and agree to use the Service at your own risk.

Registration and Account Terms

  1. Eligibility: You must be at least 16 years old to subscribe to our courses. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must make the purchase on your behalf.

  2. Account Creation: To register, you will need to create a username and password. Your account will be activated by UBE, typically within 24 hours after successful payment. Once activated, you can access your course for the duration of your subscription.

  3. Account Security: You are responsible for keeping your account details secure. Do not share your username or password with others. If someone gains unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately. UBE is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to protect your account.

  4. Subscription Use: Each subscription is for personal use only. Sharing your account details with others is prohibited and may result in immediate cancellation without a refund.

  5. Unauthorized Access: If unauthorized users access your course, UBE reserves the right to charge you for the additional access or take other actions as necessary.

  6. Service Discontinuation: If a course is discontinued, we will provide 7-14 days' notice and refund any fees for the unused portion of the course.

  7. Service Availability: While we strive to maintain smooth service, UBE is not responsible for temporary outages or technical issues beyond our control.

  8. Legal Use: You must not use our services for illegal purposes or violate any laws, including copyright laws.

  9. Account Termination: UBE may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, resulting in the loss of access and content in your account. We also reserve the right to delete accounts with expired or unsuccessful payments.

Payment and Refunds

Subscription and Payment:

  • A valid credit/debit card or PayPal account is required to subscribe to our courses.
  • Courses are billed in advance.

Refund Policy:

  1. Individual Student Accounts:

    • Due to the nature of digital educational content, refunds are generally not provided after purchase.
    • If a refund is requested within 14 days of purchase and no part of the course has been accessed, a full refund will be issued.
    • If any part of the course has been accessed within the 14-day period, no refund will be granted.

  2. Educational Institution Accounts:

    • For cohort-based accounts, the 14-day refund policy applies.
    • Refund requests must be made within 14 days of purchase and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Requesting a Refund:

  • Requests for refunds must be sent to us within the relevant 14-day period. Contact details are provided on our website.

Taxes and Fees:

  • All fees are exclusive of taxes, levies, or duties imposed by taxing authorities. You are responsible for any such additional charges.

AI-Powered Writing Critique and Correction

UBE offers an AI-driven Writing Critique and Correction service via our LMS browser platform. This service provides automated feedback based on exam-specific criteria and is available for a fee.

Key Points:

  • Service Overview: Our AI tool provides feedback on writing tasks aligned with exam criteria. No personal data is shared; only the text of your work is processed.
  • Privacy and Use: Your submitted work is not distributed or sold. Feedback is for personal use and should not be used as official advice.
  • Word Limit and Content: Ensure your submissions adhere to the specified word limits. We only accept tasks from our Exam Success Plus platform. If your subscription expires, you can use free writing tasks available on our website.
  • Submission and Delivery: Submit your writing directly in the body of an email. Feedback will be delivered as a PDF within 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Support and Revisions: The service does not include email support beyond initial retrieval and return of your assignment. UBE is not responsible for delays or damages from delayed feedback.
  • Copyright: Feedback provided remains the property of UBE. Your work and feedback should not be resold or distributed.

Note: We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason and will not mark work submitted more than one year after payment.

Speak Mate: AI-Powered Speaking Practice

Speak Mate is an advanced AI-powered tool designed to enhance your speaking skills for exams like B2 and C1. Speak Mate uses artificial intelligence to evaluate your spoken responses to exam-style questions, providing feedback based on specific criteria from the exam's marking scheme.

Key Features:

  • AI-Driven Assessment: Speak Mate uses artificial intelligence to assess your answers to speaking questions, reflecting the criteria used in B2 and C1 exams.
  • Privacy: Your spoken responses are processed solely for generating feedback and are not shared or stored.
  • Similar to One-to-One Lessons: The interaction with Speak Mate is similar to having a one-to-one speaking lesson, providing personalized practice and detailed feedback.

Important Information:

  • Feedback as Supplementary: Feedback from Speak Mate is based on AI analysis and should be used to complement your exam preparation. It is not official advice.
  • Technical Requirements: Ensure you have a reliable internet connection for effective use of Speak Mate.
  • Usage Terms: By using Speak Mate, you agree to use the feedback provided solely for personal study and improvement.

Modifications to the Service and Prices

  • Service Changes: UBE reserves the right to modify or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice.
  • Price Changes: Prices for courses may change at any time.
  • Liability: UBE is not liable for any modifications, price changes, suspensions, or discontinuations of the service.

General Conditions

Use of Service:

  • At Your Own Risk: You use our service at your own risk. The service is provided as-is and as available.
  • Technical Support: Technical support is available only to paying users via email. We aim to respond within 24 hours.

Restrictions:

  • Modifications and Misuse: Do not modify, hack, or falsely associate our service with other websites. Reproduction, sale, or exploitation of any part of the service without permission is prohibited.
  • Copyright and Licensing: All content on our site is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. You may use, share, and modify the content according to this license. Commercial use or redistribution outside the terms of this license is not allowed. For personal use, you may print or download materials, but modifications or uses beyond this should comply with the GPL v3.0.

Content and Conduct:

  • Content Removal: We may remove content or accounts that we deem unlawful, offensive, or in violation of our terms. We also reserve the right to terminate accounts for abuse.
  • Abuse: Any form of abuse towards our users or staff will lead to immediate account termination.
